The Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (BCKV) is also known as Bidhan Chandra Agricultural University. The university was established to improve socio-economic conditions of the people related to agriculture and strengthen our food security. The Chancellor and vice chancellor of the university are Sri Mayankote Kelath Narayanan Governor of West Bengal and Prof. Chittaranjan Kole. The university is located at Mohanpur, Haringhata, Nadia district, West Bengal, India. The university provides higher education in theoretical and technical fields of Agriculture, Horticulture and Agricultural Engineering, provides Bachelor of Science, Master of Science & Doctorate degree in the respective fields. The university has various departments such as Department of Agronomy, Department of Agricultural Chemistry & Soil Science, Department of Agricultural Entomology, Department of Agricultural Chemicals, Department of Biotechnology, Instrumentation & Environmental Science, Department of Soil & Water Conservation, Department of Plant Pathology, Department of Agricultural Meteorology & Physics, Department of Agricultural Extension, Department of Agricultural Statistics, Department of Agricultural Economics, Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding, Department of Plant Physiology, Department of Animal Science, Department of Agricultural Biochemistry and Department of Seed Science & Technology. Every year the university conducts the written examination in the month of March to May.
